Check your version. Polo 6R/6C family, 2009–2017, using the illustrated 60-position cabin carrier. Hatchback, sedan/Vento, market and equipment variants have different assignments. This page does not apply to the later AW-generation Polo solely because it is also called Mk6.
Fuse box locations
The cabin fuse panel is below the steering column behind a protective cover. Check the viewing direction and the physical panel on right-hand-drive versions. The main battery fuses are on a holder above the battery; the relay carrier is separate from the numbered cabin fuses.

Common Polo fuse checks
Position 42 supplies the lighter/12 V socket, with 15 A or 20 A listed for different versions. Position 41 is the rear wiper (15 A), 40 the blower (30 A), and 53 the heated rear window (30 A). Where one position has alternative circuits, first establish which equipment your vehicle has.
The table records equipment-dependent alternatives. A slash between ratings is not permission to fit a larger fuse. Match the original specification, fuse type and protected equipment.
How do I choose the right fuse rating?
Match the exact vehicle, fuse carrier and circuit before replacing a fuse. Where several ratings are shown, use the vehicle-specific allocation and the correct fuse type. A higher rating can leave the wiring unprotected; it is not a fix for a fuse that keeps blowing.
How should I check or replace a fuse?
- Park safely and switch off the ignition and the affected equipment.
- Identify the correct carrier and position. Remove the fuse with a suitable puller.
- Inspect the element or check continuity of the removed fuse. Fit the specified type and identical rating.
- Refit the cover and test the circuit. If the replacement blows again, diagnose the fault before replacing it again.
High-current links, airbag and belt-tensioner circuits require the relevant service procedure. Do not bridge fuse terminals.
The fuse is intact. Why is the equipment still not working?
Check the ignition setting and whether other devices on the same supply work. A damaged socket, connector, earth connection, switch, relay or control module can interrupt the circuit even when its fuse is intact. Use the matching wiring diagram and appropriate circuit tests before replacing parts.
